Dawson Wallace was selected to construct the new Amazon Fulfillment Centre (YYC1), a project which included construction of the original base building and also the interior tenant fit-out.
The facility sits on a 1.2 million sq.ft. site. The tenant fit-out included the completion of an extensive electrical fit-up, office area work, and managing Amazon MHE trades. The MHE scope consisted of more than 5 km of conveyors, along with a 4 story “pick-pod” that covers over an additional 600,000 sq.ft.
The facility is equipped with lighting, sprinklers, metal detectors, over 90 staircases and 3 VRC units for lifting products to the various floors. Battery charging stations are strategically placed throughout the facility to ensure they are able to service the pick-pod and additional high bay racking within the facility.
