Located in Lethbridge’s Southhbrook community, the Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School encompasses 42,000 sq.ft. on the main floor, providing space for 600 students. The school houses classrooms, a gymnasium, administrative areas, project centres, a servery, and a library and music room. In addition to traditional classroom space within the main structure, eight modular classrooms have also been installed in order to provide additional capacity.
The main school is comprised of a structural steel building on strip footings. The exterior features primarily brick veneer, with metal cladding on the upper gym walls. The school is also equipped with large arrays of solar panels on the roof and gymnasium walls, as well as a large mechanical penthouse.
