The overall scope of work on this complex project included a complete demolition of all existing finishes, decommissioning an existing escalator, new concrete stairs, roof and +15 replacements, and all new mechanical, electrical and finishes as required.
All this work was to be completed while both stations remained fully open to the public for access to transit for the duration of the project. To facilitate uninterrupted service, significant pre-planning was done to establish a phasing plan, which was divided into five phases.
Additionally, full height hoarding was put into place in between the phases, and non-conventional work hours were used to further minimize disruptions to the public.
